“The language of music is common to all generations and nations; it is understood by everybody, since it is understood with the heart.”
Gioacchino Rossini
ABOUT US
The mission of the Edison High School Music Program is to provide an educational program designed to teach the performing arts in a way that will help students develop invaluable life skills. We believe that the self-esteem, the creative abilities, communication skills and the ultimate success of our students will be enhanced through the study of music, and high quality performance.
We hope:
-
To make students aware of the possibilities’ music offers as a career or vocation
-
To contribute or help, broaden the cultural life of our community
-
To develop creativity and independence of thought
-
To encourage collaboration and teamwork
The Edison High School Music Program invites the students of today to be the leaders of tomorrow. Our members gain an edge by learning to cooperate, set goals, and work hard with a focus on music fundamentals. Through this learning process we believe that each student will have the best opportunity to be successful.
At Edison, we believe that full community support is needed to provide the opportunity for students and those passionate about the arts to showcase their talents. We believe that the arts will succeed through a, Cycle of Community allowing our student’s to become the next generation of community leaders and members. This Cycle of Community is training our members to give back to the area arts community they were once a part. With this purpose in mind we were formed to produce individuals who have the skill to be able to give back to their roots thereby increasing the level of artistic excellence in the Stockton community.
